I’ve been in the wedding industry now for over 4 years and I’m the first to admit that i’m pretty vanilla when it comes to the world of wedding creatives...
I don’t have a crazy business name, a unique look or a special party trick ;)
So when I first started in the biz I found it super hard to stand out and I questioned myself all the damn time.
I’d often spend hours scrolling the gram and looking at wedding vendors I admired, hoping to figure out why they were so successful so I could do the same.
Sound familiar?
I certainly didn’t have any idea about how to create a unique brand, how to market myself and how to create content to attract the types of couples I wanted to work with.
So what happened?
Enquiries were slowwwww. And when a couple did get in contact, I didn’t care who they were, what they wanted or if we were a good match - I just said yes!
We often didn’t share the same values and sometimes I even saw some glaring red flags (eek!) but I still took them on, because let’s face it - when you start out you’ll just take whatever you can get right?
You just want the damn bookings! You want the experience. You need the money. Even if it means working with couples who aren’t necessarily a great fit.
And guess what happened?

After lots of trial and error, I realised that the key to success was actually to stop making it about me and instead make it about my couples.
This meant stop trying to market all couples
Stop being vague in my messaging
But instead, get crystal clear on my dream couples - who they were, what they wanted for their big day and how I could bring that to life. And then using all that juicy info to create a brand and marketing strategy that would attract and convert them, on repeat!!
